Volunteer Opportunities
Program Volunteer/Buddy
Buddies provide support Kate’s Club members at program events and serve as positive role models. Buddies are an essential part of creating a safe, fun, and healing environment for Kate’s Club members. We provide supplemental training throughout the year to help volunteers learn more about the grief process and best practices for working in our therapeutic programs. Typical duties include monitoring and supervision, facilitating activities and providing emotional support for the kids. It is the Buddy’s role to engage with and encourage the children to participate in all activities. Buddies volunteer during Saturday programs. Shifts are 9:30am-1:00pm and 12:30pm-4:30pm.
Camp Good Mourning Volunteer
If you are interested in being a Buddy at camp visit our Camp Good Mourning page for more details and application. Camp Good Mourning 2012 is scheduled for August 3rd-5th.
Administrative Volunteer
Provide clerical support and help with preparation of materials for use in our programs. For example: Prepare special projects, mix paints, organize arts and crafts area, organize play rooms; decorate for seasons and special events. Because our office has limited parking, it is important that you schedule a specific time and task to volunteer in the office with our Program Coordinator.
Special Case Volunteer
Kate’s Club welcomes volunteers participating in student projects, corporate volunteer programs, and other volunteer referral programs. We will work with you to identify a project to meet your needs.
Special Event/Fundraising Volunteer
Kate’s Club has several special events and fundraisers throughout the year. Our Dinner of Champions in April and Cabaret in August are our two signature events. Other important events include the geneRACEtion run and fun walk, Toast of Life and the Bowl-a-thon. Support might include staffing the silent auction, signing in participants, or helping with the event set up and break down.
Interns
We welcome inquiries for internships from current students interested in Kate’s Club as a placement. Please call 404-347-7619 or email programs@katesclub.org for more information.
