Our staff brings a wealth of leadership, experience, and knowledge in the field of childhood bereavement. We are passionate, caring, and most importantly here to help grieve.


Theresa Prestwood, MDiv

Executive Director
Theresa has been at Kate's Club for 3 years. She has her Masters in Divinity from Emory University. She loves that everyone has an opportunity to learn at Kate's Club. Buddies, board members and staff all express they have learned something about their own grief from participating in Kate's Club. It is this sense of community and connection that epitomizes the incredible value of the programming at Kate's Club.

Lane Pease, MS, NCC

Director of Programs
Lane has been at Kate's Club for 7 years. She has her Bachelors in Philosophy from Georgia State University and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. She is currently working towards her licensure as a Professional Counselor in Georgia. She enjoys getting to use her knowledge both professional and personal to help others on their grief journey at Kate's Club.

Jamie Anderson

Director of Development and Marketing
Jamie has been at Kate’s Club for almost two years. She graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in International Business and Spanish. She has worked in fundraising and communications for over ten years with a focus in children and young adult organizations. One of her favorite things about Kate’s Club is watching Kate’s Club members create healthy relationships that will support them forever in their grief journey.


Debra Brook, CTRS

Director of Volunteer Services
Debra has been with Kate's Club for 10 years. She received her Bachelors of Science in Recreation with an empahsis in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Florida. She is certified through the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation and she received a Certificate of Non-Profit Volunteer Management from Georgia Center for Non-Profits. Her favorite part about working with Kate's Club is the sense of community she feels.

Liz Carson

Program and Outreach Manager
Liz has been with Kate's Club for 5 years. She graduated from Emory University in 2014 with a B.S. in Anthropology and Human Biology. She is certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid, is in the process of obtaining her MSW. Her favorite part about Kate's Club is how quickly students, families, and volunteers go from being strangers to being a community.

Ashlie Evans

Program Coordinator
Ashlie has been working at Kate's Club for 1 year. She graduated from Howard University in 2013 with a B.S. in Psychology. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Health Administration. Her favorite part about Kate's Club is watching sad, angry and resistant kids leave smiling and hopeful knowing they are not alone in their grief experience.

Courtney Parsons, MSW

Development Coordinator
Courtney has been at Kate's Club for 3 years. Courtney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Humanities from Wofford College in 2015 and a Master of Social Work degree from Georgia State University in 2017. Her favorite thing about Kate's Club is being able to see all different walks of life coming to together under a shared experience.

Taurean has been at Kate's Club for 3 years. He studied at the University of Wisconsin Parkside and his favorite part about working at Kate's Club is the interaction between families and staff and the sense of a tight knit community.

Melissa Vanderstelt

Outreach Assistant
Melissa started working at Kate's Club in January 2020. She has her B.S. in Public Heath. Her favorite thing about Kate's Club is the building of resilience through community in our city's youth.

Kate’s Club employs several part-time therapists who design and deliver Kate’s Club programs. They are fully licensed professionals who specialize in using art, music, creative writing, movement, and activity to work with grieving children and families.
