Kate’s Club is a place where children can have the space and opportunity to carry on the legacy of the loved one they have lost. This was the mission of Kate Atwood when she first quit her job to focus entirely on her newly founded center for grieving children.  Kate lost her mother to breast cancer when she was only 12 years old and struggled to adjust to her “new” life and family, now consisting of her father and brother.  She spent many years with the emotions of how to grieve the loss of a parent bottled up and the story of her life hidden away.  It wasn’t until she was 19 years old while volunteering as a counselor at a bereavement camp with grief counseling resources, that Kate had the opportunity to tell her story.  It was the first time in 7 years that she had talked about her mother’s death, with grief resources.

Finding her voice proved to be a pivotal point in her grief journey.  That life-changing moment allowed her to see that she had a passion for empowering individuals who have suffered a loss.  Three years later she formed Kate’s Club.  It was that passion that drove her to dedicate her life to developing an organization and culture that focuses on the survivor.  It’s this dedication that continues to drive Kate to see her free grief support club, Kate's Club, grow to be a leader in its field. By helping children unite with their peers who have shared a similar loss experience through grief training, you also inspire them to fulfill their personal legacies in life.
