When is the Mourning Glory Gala at Home?

The 2020 Mourning Glory Gala will go live at 7:00pm EST on Friday August, 28. If you have purchased a ticket, are a host committee member or guest of a host committee member, we’ll email you the website when the event goes live.

Bidding on the silent auction will begin at 10:00am EST on Wednesday, August 19 and conclude at the end of the program on August 28. Bidding on silent auction items will be open to everyone – no ticket required. You can register here for the auction.

How do I attend the Mourning Glory Gala at Home?

Simply reserve your ticket here, then follow the links that you will receive in your email that evening.  Make the evening extra special by donning your favorite party wear, mixing up a delightful cocktail, inviting a friend to join you virtually, and ordering takeout or delivery!

The livestream program begins at 7:00pm EST on Friday, August 28 and will run approximately 1 hour. The online auction will open at 10:00am EST on Wednesday, August 19 and will close at the conclusion of the virtual program on August 28. Don't miss your opportunity to bid on unique items!

What's in the program?

You will hear from our founder, Kate Atwood, Executive Director, Theresa Prestwood as well as from our 2020 Mourning Glory Gala Chairs, Tanya Sam and Keisha Hunt. Throughout the evening, you’ll also hear Kate’s Club stories from members and a special conversation between our honorees, Nolan Smith and Ozzie Areu.

Prior to, and during the event, you’ll have an opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind experiences and packages during our online auction.

Can we still be social?

Of course! If you’d like to maintain the community aspect of the evening, feel free to gather your guests in your home or via video chat!

How do I raise my paddle virtually?

You'll have the opportunity to "Give to Grief" during the livestream program. You can either donate through the levels specified on the Qtego bidding site or use the number on screen and text-to-give.

Will there still be an auction?

Yes! We’re taking the auction to you and the comfort of your couch. Bidding starts on Wednesday, August 19 at 10am EST and ends at the conclusion of the program on August 28. Be sure to check back for newly added items, and to make sure you aren’t outbid!

We will be sending out the link to register to bid at 10am EST on Wednesday, August 19 when bidding opens.

Who can bid on the auction?

The silent auction will be open to the public and anyone can bid by registering here. Bidders must pre-register and create an account on our virtual auction website to participate. A valid credit card is required to bid on the silent auction or make an online donation.

Will there still be a live auction?

Yes! We have four amazing packages in our live auction. Bidding on live items opened Wednesday, August 26 and will close throughout the livestream program on Friday, August 28.

What about items that may be affected by restrictions from COVID-19?

We have the most amazing community of supporters for our silent auction. All businesses, organizations and individuals who committed to donating prior to the onset of the pandemic have all been contacted to ensure that they can still honor their donation. We are extremely grateful and encourage you to support these donors by supporting their businesses during this challenging time.

Kate’s Club has endeavored to correctly describe the most up-to-date COVID-19 information on dining, entertainment, sports, travel and more. Many items have extended or have no expiration dates. Please read the descriptions carefully and take the ever-changing situation with COVID-19 restrictions into consideration.

How will I receive my winning items?

Kate’s Club will communicate with each winning bidder to arrange for either home delivery or pick-up of items while honoring the regulations of social distancing.

We will hold two auction pick-up days on Friday, September 11 (from 11:00am to 2:00pm) and Saturday, September 12 (from 10:00am to 12:00pm) at the Kate’s Club office where winners can stop by. Our office is located at 1190 W Druid Hills Drive NE, Suite T-80, Atlanta, GA 30329. You may drive-up in our parking lot, text us and we will bring out your items to you.

For out-of-state bidders, we can arrange to ship your items to you; however, the cost must be covered by the winner. If you’d still like to participate, we recommend that you bid on certificates that we can mail to you.

What if I only want to make a donation and don’t want to bid on any items?

You can go to katesclub.org/donate. When you register for the auction, you will also be given options that night to donate.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Kate’s Club is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and donations made in support of our work during the paddle raise are tax-deductible. For auction items to the event, any amount you paid over the fair market value is tax deductible. You will also receive a full tax deduction for the price of your ticket.
