Meet the young and talented Demetrius Martin. On June 30, 2010, his father was murdered on the northwest side of Detroit. Demetrius, a ten-year-old honor student, turned his grief into a book that encourages others to cope with death healthily.

Newly published author, Demetrius Martin

Demetrius’ mom, Erica, sought the resources provided by Open Arms Bereavement Counseling to help her son deal with the complicated emotions surrounding grief. Through what he learned in the program, Demetrius penned “I Really Miss My Dad”.

Thank you Demetrius for helping other children realize they are not alone!
