This weekend I saw an article on 11 Alive News about Dana Swanson. Dana is a funny, married 30-year-old, creative woman who recently learned she suffers from a brain tumor. She chronicles her raw emotion with a wicked sense of humor for her friends, family, and others dealing with life-threatening illnesses on YouTube – Unfortunate Brain News.

Dana asks, how do you react to this news, especially when your dad died from cancer when you were a child?  How do you tell family and friends about your illness?  How do you prepare yourself for the first meeting with the specialist doctors?  How do you accept kindness from others?

She has found comfort in video journaling, humor, receiving comfort from people who’ve been through tough diagnoses, cat therapy, deep breathing, and yoga.
